Milk is considered very beneficial for health, along with this, milk is also a very good source of protein and calcium. Milk contains Vitamin A, B2 and B12, but some people have to face many problems after drinking milk. This is due to lactose intolerance. Lactose intolerance is a digestive disorder. Lactose is a main compound found in dairy products.
It is generally said that drinking warm milk before sleeping helps in sleeping better. But health experts believe that milk should not be consumed before sleeping at night.
Sharing a video on social media, California-based gastroenterologist Dr. Palaniappan Manickam said that people above the age of 30 gradually develop a deficiency of the lactase enzyme due to which their body becomes unable to digest milk.
In the video, he told, lactase enzyme is found in our small intestine which works to break down lactose present in milk into smaller molecules like glucose and galactose.

Around the age of 30, the production of the lactase enzyme in our small intestine starts to decline significantly. Without the lactase enzyme, milk directly reaches the large intestine and the bacteria present in it have to face the problem of indigestion. This will affect your belly fat.
He said that people should not consume milk just before sleeping as it can lead to digestive problems. He also said that even if you do not have any digestive issues, you should not drink milk just before sleeping. Due to this, diseases keep revolving around your stomach. However, milk contains tryptophan which "promotes melatonin for a sound sleep" which releases serotonin in the body.
Dr. Palaniappan said that milk should not be consumed immediately after eating food. Consuming milk right before bedtime can increase your insulin levels because the carbohydrates in milk disturb the circadian rhythm (body clock). If you like to drink milk at night, then try to consume it 2 to 3 hours before sleeping.
Many such nutrients are found in milk, so it is considered important for our bone health and heart health, as well as drinking milk can also reduce the risk of cancer. If a person is not allergic to milk, then you can consume milk a few hours before sleeping.
