It took 21 years to make Tumbbad
Director Rahi Anil Barve started working on the story of Tumbbad in the year 1997. Then his age was only 18 years. By the year 2008, half the work on Anil's story was done. Meanwhile, he somehow managed to find a producer to make the film and signed Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the lead role. But after some time the producer left the film and Nawaz also left the film. Finally in the year 2010, Anil prepared the story of about 700 pages and after two years decided to finance the film himself.
Rahi Anil Barve cast Sohum Shah for the lead role in the film in the year 2012. For the role of Vinayak, Soham had to gain around 10 kilos. The film was shot in 120 days, when the film was ready, the director was not satisfied with it. He then rewrote and re-shot the film. In such a situation, the film was completed by 2015. Thus Tumbbad took 6 years to complete. At the same time, the scenes of the sanctum sanctorum shown in the film were prepared without VFX.

The story of making of Tumbad is very special
Actually, in the year 1993, Rahi Anil Barve's friend told him the story of Wildlife Century. One such incident happened with an employee of Wildlife Century. Anil was surprised to hear the story. He decided to make a film on this idea. After 4 years, Anil started working on the story. Accordingly, the concept of the film is 25 years old. Whereas Anil has taken the title of the film from the Marathi novel 'Tumbadche Khot'.
